Emergency Services

Important Information!

In hopes of providing the pet owners in our community access to emergency services, an emergency rotation between several veterinarians was established many years ago. Out of the seven veterinary clinics located in Chippewa County, there are only three veterinary clinics that are currently involved in this rotation. The lack of shared responsibility in emergency coverage has resulted in a select few veterinarians becoming the only available resource for after-hours and weekend emergencies for the entire community. This means we are serving the needs of many local veterinary clinic's clients, not just our own. This has proven to be unsustainable over the years.
Due to this reason, in order to take advantage of Chippewa Animal Clinic's emergency services, your pet MUST be a current patient of Chippewa Animal Clinic, Kinross Veterinary Center, or Mackinac Straits Veterinary Clinic. This means your pet must have had a physical exam performed by our veterinarians within the past 12 months. If your pet has not visited our clinic within the last year, we reserve the right to refer you to your current veterinarian, or to the closest 24 hour emergency facility, which is located in Traverse City.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. If your pet is not a current patient of ours, we'd highly recommend reaching out to your regular veterinarian to determine the necessary steps to take in the event of an emergency. If you'd like to schedule your pet for a physical exam so that we may assist you and your pet during an emergency, please contact us at (906) 635-5814 and we will get you scheduled.
Please note: due to the current situation with the Canadian border, we will make exceptions for our previously established Canadian clients in the event of an emergency.
